Lamy, the owner of “Bay Sleok Chek,” shares her touching journey as a woman entrepreneur. In 2018, after her children had grown up, she launched her food business with ambitious dreams. However, due to limited staff and a lack of operational skills, the initial months were challenging. Sadly, the theft of her food cart forced her to close “Bay Sleok Chek” in July 2019. Undeterred, Lamy decided to try again in late 2019. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, posing another significant obstacle.
Fortunately, WELL’s timely intervention with their COVID-19 relief grant and training program proved to be a game-changer. Lamy received a small grant and invaluable training, including one-on-one mentoring and coaching. This crucial support empowered her to pivot her business model, transforming it into a digital app-based delivery service. This bold move proved enormously successful, propelling “Bay Sleok Chek” to new heights. Today, Lamy runs two thriving restaurant branches and has garnered acclaim from both local and international media for her commitment to delicious and environmentally friendly food.
